Darrell’s Weekly Wrap 21/06/2020

Tiger Clutterbuck had 40 points last Wednesday to claim the major prize. Tiger narrowly defeated Trevor Carson 39 with Tim Bower next best with 33 points. It is good to see Tiger back in form as he had several good scores lately and his handicap has reduced by several shots in recent weeks.

Michael Welbourn will play with the Orange Ball next Wednesday. Trevor Carson had an eagle 3 on the 8th hole when he holed a 9 iron from about 120 metres down the fairway. Armidale visitor Mick McKee won the NTP on the 11th.

The Thursday vet’s on attracted a small field as it was not a nice day weather wise and whilst you have to be mad to play in these conditions it does help. Byron Bay visitor Arthur Dew won with 36 points from John Holthouse 33 and the consistent Michael Petrov 3rd.

Saturday saw a Bisque Par event sponsored by Dactyl Carlon and some hot scores were had by quite a few players, with the best being +10 by Warren Sellings. I know that Warren has been in good form lately but +10 is a sensational score even in a Bisque event. Marj Chappell was also very good with +8 and claimed second spot.

NTP winners were RAB 3rd Neil (Splitpin) Cullen, NAB 9th Ed Churchill (Walcha), Rob Brown Denture Clinic 15th Vicki Barraclough and Bridges Finance 17th Shane Barraclough. Shane also managed to claim the Mars Bar with -7 so some bad scores were also had by a few people. Captain Jon Izzard was pleased that Shane stayed for presentation, otherwise he would have had to present himself with the Mars Bar.

Next Sunday sees the postponed AGM being held at the Clubhouse at 10 a.m. and we are looking for a good turnout so make an effort and come and support your club.

Quote of the week: “Never call a man a fool, borrow from him.”
