Carol’s Weekly Wrap 20/2/22

Wednesday the Wednesday Whackers played a single stableford, the winner of the day was “The President” Darrell Carson with 41pts runner up with 34pts was Andrew Brennan from Walcha Golf Club. We welcomed visitors from Walcha and Sawtell Golf Clubs.

Friday we held our Vets open day and a great field of 61 players, the winner was Allan Collins from Glen Innes Golf Club with 41pts on a count back from Owen Presnell from Walcha Golf Club. Barry “Crewy” Cameron came 3rd on a c/b from Wallace Chapman from Guyra Golf Club.

Saturday we played our open 4BBB Par with 50 players from all around the district and the winners were “Boris” Paul De Veer and Vicki Heffernan with +7, the runners up with +6 on 5 way count back was “Slim” Duncan McLean and Carol Shields. NTP’s 3rd ladies Simone Sweeney, 6th ladies Sheryl McDonald men’s Bruce McMullen, 11th ladies Shirley Bruce men’s Denise Brown, 15th ladies Shirley Bruce men’s Harley Carlon and the 17th ladies Carol Shields men’s Jason Brady.

Sunday was the Men’s Open 4BBB with a great field of 116 players, the nett winners with a great score of 56pts were Scott Groth and Derek O’Dell from Barraba, the runners up were Joshua Austin and Andrew Mellor with 47pts. The gross winners were “Hobbit” Craig Hyde and Trevor Carson. The Mars Bar Award went to a couple from Inverell Golf Club Adrian King and Rowan Butler.  Well done to all the winners and thank you all for your support over the last 3 days.

Whilst some ladies were getting the clubhouse ready for the weekend, there was one lady “no name mentioned” who thought it would be funny to back herself into one of the men’s old urinals whilst getting a table out, and couldn’t get out on her own. The other helpers could not control their laughing. She did eventually manage to get out.

Our Club Championships will be held on 12th, 13th, 19th and 20th March 2022.

Our Veterans Week of Golf is on Monday 25th April-Friday 29th April 2022. Entry forms are available at the club.

The raffles are back in full swing again on Friday nights and Sunday mornings.  Tickets on sale from 6.30pm for Friday nights and for Sunday are from 11.30am.

For those wishing to play golf, the tees off times are as below:

Wednesday Wackers 9.30am for 10am tee off

Thursday Vets 9.30am for 10am tee off

Saturday 10am for 10.30 tee off

Sunday 9 hole comp 8.45am and no later than 10.45am tee off.

SAVE THE DATE: 19TH MARCH WE WILL BE HAVING A SPECIAL GUEST (DOUG WALTERS) ATTENDING THE CLUB TO HAVE A BEER AND A CHAT WITH THE LOCALS. MORE INFO TO COME AS IT BECOMES AVAILABLE.
