Darrell’s Weekly Wrap 28/03/2021
The heavy rain early in the week prevented any play on Wednesday as the course in general and in particular the greens were too wet for traffic.
The Thursday veterans however, did play and Aoife O’Nolan was the winner of this par event. Next best after a countback was Graeme Andrews from Les Forde. With all the rain and the grass growth the course is playing very difficult for us older players who depend on run to get any distance so the scores are not what they would normally be.
Saturday saw the Geoff Wood sponsored monthly Guzzler’s Mug and it was Harley Carlon who claimed first place. Harley had a nett 66 (74 gross) to be a clear winner from Simon Wood and Jason Brady both on 68 nett.
Shane and Vicki Barraclough also sponsored two nine hole events in conjunction with the monthly mug. The first nine was a stableford event won by Jason Brady with 19 points. The second nine was a par event and won by Mike Petrov with +1
Next Weekend being Easter sees three days of golf. Each day is an individual stableford but the main trophy for the weekend will be for the best two scores out of the tree days. This means you can play on all or any of the three days but to claim the main trophy you must play in at least two of those days. The weekend is sponsored by Captain Jon Izzard and the club.
The Club’s Annual General Meeting will be held on Sunday April 18th at 10 am. An election for all positions will be held and a nomination sheet for all positions is on the notice board. If you feel you can contribute to the running of the club you should nominate now. The nomination sheet will come down from the notice board on Sunday 11th April.
I will be away for nearly two weeks so there will not be a report next week.
Quote of the week: “I met Kate’s identical twin today. Duplikate”.
