Darrell’s Weekly Wrap 13/02/2021
Last Wednesday saw the Wacker’s play a memorial 4 Ball for Ron (Chickie) Chappell and Kevin (Tipping) Ward. The winners were Herb McMillan and Richard Cannon with an aggregate stableford score of 69, but only after a countback with John (The Cocky Hater) and Tony Duff. Tony Park and Jim Walkinshaw 67 took third spot after another countback from Tiger Clutterbuck and Robbie Porter.
John Holman had the best individual score of 39 and the NTP winner was Chalkie Chandler on the 3rd.
I must mention Les (I’m in a hurry) Forde who broke his age again on Wednesday, this time shooting 91 off the stick. Les has not been in his best form in recent weeks so hopefully he is now back on track. I should also mention that after golf Les was in the clubhouse when somebody rang looking for him on the club phone. Amy handed Les the phone and he had a lot trouble hearing what the caller was saying. He kept telling the caller he would need to speak up.
Turns out that the caller was speaking plenty loud enough, Les just had the phone upside down. Now I know why he does not have a mobile.
Tony (Popeye) Whiting had 36 on Thursday to claim first place in the Vets competition. Ian Duncan was next best with 34 and Mike Petrov went to great lengths to let me know that he took 3rd spot, this time after a countback with Noelene Porter. But who cares anyhow.
An overcast and slightly wet day greeted those players game enough to play on Saturday and as a consequence there was only a small field of brave souls who played for a trophy supplied by John & Vicki Holman. Troy Dawson with 39 points was the winner from John Izzard, 37 after a countback with K-Mart Northam. Sally Burraston won the mars bar.
NTP winners for the day were, NAB 6th Aaron Whackett, 11th K-Mart, Rob Brown’s Denture Clinic 15th Troy Dawson and the Bridges Finance 17th Jason Brady.
Next Saturday Peter Doyle Plumbing is the sponsors for an individual stableford.
Quote of the week: “It does not take a very big person to carry a grudge.”
