Darrell’s weekly Wrap 31/05/2020
A beautiful day greeted the players last Wednesday and a couple of good scores were returned. A very good field turned out but Sam Smith had his best round ever, 75 off the stick, giving him 42 points. Sam outlasted playing partner Tiger Clutterbuck, 40 with the ever improving Graeme Andrews next best with 37. Neil Bullen won the NTP on the 3rd.
The Thursday veteran’s attracted a good field and Les (I’m in a hurry) Forde returned to the winners circle after a three way countback was required to separate Les from Tony (Popeye) Whiting and John Holthouse. Les of course once again shot his age. It must have been a beautiful day to get Popeye out on the course again as we have not seen him for some time. Noelene Porter and Margaret Macready both had 33 to be the best of the ladies and Mike Petrov had a hard luck story about only having 33 points as well, telling me he should have had if only !!!
Saturday’s strong fields continued on another beautiful day and Warren Sellings, who has been getting closer each week, took the major prize. Warren had 40 point s to count out Kirin Walters, and Shane Barraclough had 39 to claim third spot. I notice that John (The Cocky Hater) also had a return to form which is great to see. John’s golf has been in the doldrums lately so it is good to see him back into a bit of form. Vicki Barraclough was the beat of the ladies with 34.
Now that the Covid 19 restrictions are slowly being lifted the club house will be opening up for business again soon as things hopefully slowly get back to normal. We will keep you updated and I should also mention that we can now reprogram the Club’s AGM. A position nomination sheet is up in the clubhouse and we still need a few more nominations.
Finally this week I have some good news. Campsie RSL club CEO Craig Love had his club donate to Uralla Golf Club $20,000 to assist us to get up and trading again after the lockdown. This is a huge think for a little club like Uralla and it is much appreciated. Thank you Campsie RSL.
