Darrell’s Weekly Wrap 30/08/2020
A big improvement in the weather saw a good increase in playing numbers last Wednesday and Michael Welbourn managed his first win since returning to golf a few months back. Well done Michael and what a good score to win with, 41 points. The consistent Graeme Andrews took second spot after a countback.
The Thursday Veterans also had a stronger field and the inform Noelene Porter won after a countback with Marj Chappell, Les Forde was the best of the men and also took third spot overall.
The Geoff Wood sponsored Guzzlers Mug was held on Saturday and Darrell Carson had a return to form shooting a 78 off the stick for a nett 65, his best score in many many months. New Member Kim Burraston was next best with 67 and Warren Sellings, 68 was third.
NTP winners were, RAB 3rd Dactyl Carlon, NAB 6th Vicki Barraclough, 11th and Rob Brown Denture Clinic 15th Darrell Carson and Bruce the Gnome the Bridges 17th.
Thursday this week see the Vet’s Pennants at Glen Innes and the following Thursday the Dorrigo Vets open is on. They are both good days and it is great to see Uralla being well represented at both of these events as both clubs support Uralla Events whenever possible.
Players will notice several white stakes as well as a lot of small white flags placed around the course. These are to do with the new watering system which hopefully will start construction on Monday 14th September. Chalkie Chandler is in charge of the water installation and he will be looking for a lot of help from his band of Volunteers.
Soon after the water installation Shaun will start coring greens and at this time he will be looking for help from members.
Quote of the week: “Is it still called a beef when two vegans fight or does it depend on what is at steak.”
Good Golfing
