Darrell’s Weekly Wrap 26/07/20
URALLA GOLF CLUB REPORT
The Wednesday Wacker’s continue to attract good fields each week and last Wednesday was no exception. The inform Tony Duff wan again last week, this time with 40 points. Tony was a clear winner from Graeme Andrews, 37 and Crewy Cameron 35 was next best.
Noelene Porter made it two weeks in a row when she won the Thursday Veteran’s stableford. This time John Mitchell was next best and John Holthouse though equal with John Mitchell was relegated to third after a countback.
Geoff Wood sponsored the July monthly Guzzler’s Mug last Saturday and only a small field braved the elements. Whilst the day did not look so promising weather wise it was not so bad and those that did turn up to play had a great day.
Charlie Murray nett 70 was the winner with Bruce (The Gnome) McMullen took second spot with nett 72 after a countback with Darrell Carson. Todd Jacobs won the Mars Bar with nett 83 and the NTP went to; NAB 6th Vicki Barraclough, Rob Brown Denture Clinic 15th Darrell Carson, and the Bridges Finance 17th to Neil Free.
FTG Anderson makes the report again this week after he was seen throwing his club after an ordinary shot on the 12th, or maybe it just slipped out of his hand.
The club house is up and running again albeit under some different restrictions and conditions. The Friday night and Sunday raffles are also back on and the club, as well as the Friday night Kitchen, needs your support as we continue to struggle to keep our heads above water.
There has been a delay in our plans to start the course watering upgrade but hopefully the delay will not be too long. The inside clubhouse work is continuing and I am sure the final result will be worth the small inconveniences during the construction period.
The Ross Anderson sponsored match play is on again and the nomination sheet is full. A draw will be organized next week and we will have it on the notice board soon along with the dates each round has to be played. This year there is no cost to enter, first round loser event and on the day of the final everyone that played in the event are invited to play on that day with a 6 month membership available to the day’s winner. The winner of the match play will win 12 months membership and the runner up 6 months. A very generous sponsosrship.
Quote of the week: “Here is a little bit of advice…..Advi”.
