Darrell’s Weekly Wrap 19/04/2020
The Wednesday Wacker’s got back into full swing last week and a good field faced the starter and whilst we are only playing in two’s and there in no social inter action after or before golf at least we are getting out onto the course.
Dom Bower had 38 points with his Dad Tim taking second spot with 37 after a countback with Darrell Carson. The inform Bruce (The Gnome) McMullen was next best with 36. Todd Jacobs won the NTP on the 6th and Neil Free will play with the orange ball this week.
Neil Free reckoned he might be over golfed after 4 consecutive days over Easter and that this accounted for his sad score on Wednesday and when I spoke to him on Thursday he was going to take a break from the game. Neil’s idea of a break is a lot different to mine as I noticed he fronted up again on Saturday and showed a marked improvement. When I asked about the break he told me “Well I didn’t play on Friday” so I guess that is fair enough.
The Geoff Wood sponsored Monthly Guzzler’s Mug was held on Saturday and once again a good field hit off on a beautiful Autumn New England day and Club Captain and Club Champion Jon Izzard had a sensational 72 off the stick to take the major prize. It is a pity that the club is closed and Jon will not get the opportunity to use the mug, at least nor for the next couple of weeks.
Peter Doyle also had 66 nett to lose to Jon on a countback. That’s bad luck Pete as is not often that 66 nett would get beaten. Chalkie Chandler, 69 edged out Sparra Taggart (these days known as The Little Pecker) on a countback.
Quote of the week. ”Words that soak into your ears are whispered, Not Yelled.”
