Darrell’s Weekly Wrap 20/02/2021
Some not so pleasant weather affected the fields last week but a few brave souls hit off on Wednesday and within the hour of hitting off the day turned out to be a beautiful New England Summers day.
Tony Duff returned to the winners circle with 38 points. Herb McMillen took second spot after a countback with Michael Welbourn and Dan Riley will play with the orange ball next week. I don’t have the NTP winner.
The Thursday Veterans also played this week and it was Les (I’m in a hurry) Forde who won. Les beat Browyn Wilson and Ian Duncan into the minor placings. Once again I don’t have the NTP winner.
Peter Doyle Plumbing sponsored Saturday’s individual stableford and a very good field hit off, including visitors from Kempsey, Armidale, Maitland and Walcha Golf Clubs.
Harley Carlon playing just his second game back after several years away from the game was a clear winner with 40 points. Harley had better check his handicap as I suspect he could lose up to 4 shots with that score so early in his comeback. The consistent Barry Cameron was next best with 37 after a countback with Robbie Porter and Troy Dawson. Neil Free claimed the mars bar.
NTP winners were, RAB 3rd Jason Brady, NAB 6th Geoff Wood, Jason Brady sponsored 9th Chalkie Chandler, 11th Visitor Kris Hueston, Rob Brown Denture Clinic 15th Neil Bullen and the Bridges Finance 17th Tony Duff.
Next Saturday it is the February Monthly Guzzlers Mug sponsored by Geoff Wood. The Mug is a stroke round. A reminder that the championships start March 6th. Meaning that we will be having several stroke rounds in a row. There is a nomination sheet on the notice board so get you name in ASAP.
Quote of the week: “Not in jail, not in a mental hospital, not in a grave- I would say I am having a very good day.”
