Darrell’s Weekly Wrap 18th November 2018

The Old Wizard has done it again, this time breaking his age two days in a row on Wednesday and Thursday. Obviously I am talking about Les (I’m in a hurry) Forde. On Wednesday he had 86 off the stick to return 40 points to be the winner after a countback with Herb McMillan. Jim Walkinshaw and Tony Duff both had 39. Bruce the Gnome won the NTP on the 6th and Robbie Porter will play with the Orange Ball next week.

The Thursday vets event saw Darrell Carson 40 points win after a countback with Noelene Porter. John (The Cocky Hater) Holman and Bronnie Wilson both had 38 to round out two good days of good scores.

NTP winners were 3rd Margaret Macready, 6th Tony (Popeye) Whiting and Peter Macready on the 17th.

Now back to my mate Les Forde, everybody told me that Les, who is technology shy, does not even own a mobile phone, no computers and would never get involved in Facebook, would never agree to inputting his own scores into the club scoring kiosk. Well guess what on Thursday Les did his own scoring and Coleen even has a photo of him at the computer desk. Who says you cannot teach an old dog new tricks.

Chris Pears now holds the Guzzlers Mug after his 68 nett last Saturday made him a clear winner. Bruce (the Gnome) McMullen 70 took second spot after a 4 way countback with Robbie Porter, Ross Anderson and the Big Bird himself Doug Taggart.

NTP winners were, RAB 3rd K Mart, NAB 6th Gary Dowdell, 9th Robbie Porter, 11th Chris Pears, Rob Brown Denture Clinic 15th Vicki Barraclough and Bridges Finance 17th Les Forde.

I believe that this is Chris Pears first win, at least since rejoining Uralla and congratulations Chris, well done. Another newcomer last week, Vicki Holman experienced the woes of golf when on the 14th hole she managed to hit a tree three times with a net loss of about 100 metres. Vicki you are not the first and certainly will not be the last. Continue to enjoy your golf and you will make it too the winners circle soon enough.

Next Friday is the Veterans Uralla Open with a 9.30 shotgun start, Saturday is the Uralla and Central North Open Mixed and of course Sunday sees the biggest event on the Uralla calendar with the Open 4BBB for the men. Numbers are coming in fast so get you nominations in ASAP.

Quote of the week: “You cannot see farther than others by standing on the feet of giants.”

Good Golfing.
