Last Wednesday’s field was I think the best we have ever had on a Wednesday and the winner was Darrell Carson with 37 points from the Big Bird himself Doug Taggart 36 after a countback was required to eliminate Crewy Cameron out of second spot. Determined to get his name in the paper again, Les Forde won the nearest the pin on the 6th.
Ross Anderson will have the pleasure of using the green ball next week. Whilst on Ross it would be remiss of me not to mention his efforts on the 16th (his favourite hole). Ross hit his second shot into the trees on the left and when he tried to get it back into play he hit a tree and the ball finished 15 metres behind him, but still in the trees. His 4th shot hit another tree and again fished 15 metres back but at least in the clear. Well to make the story complete, Ross by now needing a 3 wood to get home, knocked it on the green and into the hole to make a par.
It’s a funny game golf.
The Cocky Hater, John Holman had his first win for some time on Thursday with 39 points, John just beat the consistent pair of John Holthouse, 38 and Ian Duncan 37. Margaret Macready 6th and Albert Egli, 9th were the NTP winners. Once again Thursday’s field was one of the best in recent times so people are obviously enjoying the course in its excellent condition.
Chickie Chappell, in pretty good form of late managed to win the major prize on Saturday with a very solid +5 with this par event, sponsored by Kevin Ward. Duncan McLean was next best with +2 and these two players were the only two to finish on the + side of the ledger. Tiger Clutterbuck and Splitty Cullen were next best both finishing square.
NTP winners were, RAB 3rd Ross Anderson, NAB 6th and Rob Brown Debenture clinic 15th both to Chickie Chappell and Splitty won the 9th.
Quote this week. “Guests, like fish begin to smell after a few days.”
Good Golfing .
