Another great winter’s day attracted a good field last Wednesday and Darrell Carson won with an honest 37 points from Chickie Chappell 36, it seems they are both going better than their beloved Dragons. Chalkie Chandler won the NTP on the 9th and Trevor (Fairweather) Wilson will play with the orange ball next week.
I am actually surprised there was any golf on as Les Forde was not there to play. Les does not miss many opportunities so I imagine he must have got his days mixed up or maybe it was raining out at Kentucky when he was getting ready to leave.
John Holthouse had a massive 45 points to win the Thursday veterans competition. He in fact finished 9 shots ahead of Jack Mitchell, 36 whilst Judy Marshall was next best with 35. Nobody managed to claim the NTP. This score means that John has once again broken his age, must be something in the water in Uralla as people keep doing that. Congratulations John well done.
Only a small field played on Saturday and Darrell Carson won the day with 40 points after a countback with Aaron Whackett. Don Plummer was next best with 36. Troy Dawson and Shane Barraclough both had 35.
NTP winners were, RAB 3rd Vicki Barraclough, NAB 6th Trevor Carson, 9th Aaron Whackett and Trevor Carson on the 11th. I should point out that Aaron hit a 9 iron on the 176 metre 9th hole and the ball finished about 50cm from the hole.
Next Saturday it will be a 4BBB with a draw for partners. Peter Richardson is the sponsor and a great day should be had by all. Sunday see the annual Junior tournament and we are expecting many visitors from the surrounding clubs as this is a New England Order of Merritt event.
