Darrell’s Weekly Wrap April 8th 2018

More than 100 players hit off in the first day of the 36 hole Vet’s event on Tuesday and some very good scores were returned. In men’s division one Dactyl Carlon had 43 points and Jeff Porter (Coffs Harbour) 41 followed by Rowan Chandler and John (Happy) Holman both 39.

Men in division two saw Vern Roberts 42 just outpoint our local supervet Les (I’m in a hurry) Forde, 40 points. Les once again smashed his age. Dudley Parker and Tom Clifford, both 37.

Ladies and the winner was Carole Peacocke with 38 after a countback with Elizabeth Cooper, Sheryl Joyce and Kerry Gallagher both 37 filled the minor placings.

Because of the week of golf only a small field hit off in the Wednesday comp and it was Dan Riley who won the day with 36 points.  Well done, Dan it is good to see you back in the winner’s circle. Regular visitor David Bramley, finished in last spot last Wednesday but managed a second place this week after a countback with another visitor Des Vidler.

Des Vidler maintained the good form to win Day 2 with 43 points, Mike Petrov 42 and Inverell Graeme Moore 41 finished third best. For the ladies Vivien Jones was a narrow winner with 41 over Rhonda Taylor 40 and Fran Lacey 38 on a countback.

This would make Des the 36 hole event winner from David Carlon and for the ladies  Vivien Jones was the 36 hole winner from Kerry Gallagher.

Saturday was the Geoff Wood sponsored Guzzler’s mug and the old fella Les(I’m in a hurry) Forde did it again this time having an 87 off the stick for a net 65. Congratu;ations Les you are a marvel. Simon Wood was next best with 66 nett and Des Vidler, 68  and Sparra Taggart ,69 were the next best.

NTP winners were  John Holman on both the NAB 6th and the 9th, Des Vidler on the Rob Brown Denture Clinic’s 15th and the 11th whilst the big bird himself Sparra won the Bridges Finance 17th.

A final reminder about the AGM on Sunday at 10 am, come along and show you support to the club and the board. Also Saturday is the NSW state 4BBB qualifying and the bigger the field the more players can also play in the final to be played at Uralla a little later in the year.

Quote of the week: “If you have the capacity to learn from mistakes, you will learn a lot.”

Good Golfing .
