A big week at Uralla Golf Club this past week as many travelling golfers stopped off to participate in the annual veteran’s week of golf. Despite the course being so dry the week was enjoyed by all and I am sure most will return again next year.
Good scores were the order of the week and a few of the locals finished among the prize getters. A summary of results follows.
Overall Veteran’s 36 hole shield winners were Ladies, Nola Cowie , (Hervey Bay) 85 points from Christine Noonan (Musswellbrook) 84 points. Men, winner Tom Clifford 81 points after a countback with local Bob Brown.

Each of the 4 days saw many NTP winners too many to mention here, and each day there was a ball run down so overall many thousands of prizes were handed out across a wide spread of people. A thank you once again to our major sponsors Bryan and Christine McNamara whose generous sponsorship make this week possible.
The club held a 4 BBB on Thursday, Anzac Day, and as usual the Anzac Sponsor was Pete Acton from Uralla Motor Mates and the winners with a very solid score of 49 points were Todd Jacobs & John Archibald (Bargara) from Scott Sharp & Corey Rose. Aaron Blanch and Kirin Walters took 3rd spot.
Saturday saw the monthly Guzzlers Mug stroke event and for the second consecutive month it was won by a lady, this time Vicki Barraclough took the honours with a nett 68 from Kirin Walters 69. Dare I say it but I fancy Vicki will make more use of the mug over the next few weeks than Sally did last month.
NTP winners were RAB 3rd, Sparra Taggart, NAB 6th Tony Park, Rob Brown Denture Clinic 15th carol Shields and the Bridges Finance 17 was not won.
The club held the AGM on Sunday morning and only just enough members attended to allow the meeting to go ahead. The following people were elected to the board.
President Darrell Carson, Vice President Doug Taggart,
Captain Jon Izzard.
Directors, David Ayre, Duncan McLean, Shaun Northam and Trevor Carson. Ross Anderson will cover the roll of Vice Captain from a non-director position.
Quote of the week: “In spite of the cost of living it is still popular.”
