The continuing cold and windy weather finally got the better of some of the fair weather golfers at Uralla and only a few hardy souls faced the starter last Wednesday.
Crewy Cameron had 37 points to be a narrow winner over Tiger Clutterbuck, 36 and the Nundle Burglar had 34 to claim 3rd spot. Les (I’m in a hurry) Forde claimed the NTP on the 6th. Richard Cannon will play with the orange ball next week.
John Holthouse won the Thursday vet’s competition with 37 points, just one clear of the consistent Chick Chappell. Nobody managed to claim the NTP, but it was only a small field that took part.
Sparra Taggart was the sponsor for a bisque par on Saturday and good scores were the order of the day. In fact the women dominated the scoring which is good to see. (might stop them whinging for a while).
The winner was Lil Faulkner with +6 after a countback with Carol Shields and Noelene Porter, with Mary Dufty +5 next best. Obviously the bisque event either favours the women or maybe they understand and use it better. Best of the men were Sam Smith, Kirin Walters and Barry Cameron all with +4.
Neil Bullen managed to take the Ross Anderson sponsored Mars Bar in what I believe is his first time, even though Garry Dowdell would have claimed it had he still been in the clubhouse at presentation time. I haven’t had the need to mention Les (I’m in a hurry) Forde for a while as he has struggled with the cold and windy weather but whilst he did not figure in the prize getters on Saturday he did manage to break his age once again.
NTP winners were RAB 3rd Bruce (The Gnome) McMullen, NAB 6th and Bridges Finance 17th Charlie Murray, 9th Shane Barraclough, 11th Vicki Barraclough and the Rob Brown Denture Clinic 15th Barry Cameron.
Next Saturday we will play a Mulligan event for the Bruce McMullen trophy and a good fun day should be had by all.
