Darrell’s Weekly Wrap 22nd July 2018

Last Saturday I arrived back from the Sunshine Coast to play in the Duncan and Carol sponsored stroke event and it was a closely contested competition with K-Mart Northam claiming first place from Bruce the Gnome and Freeza all who had a nett 68.

NTP winners were, RAB 3rd Carol Shields, NAB 6th Bruce McMullen, 9th Neil Cullen, Rob Brown Denture Clinic 15th Bruce again and Mike Petrov won the Bridges Finance 17th.

I did manage to play will the big bird himself, Sparra Taggart and we as a team took the keno off Vicki and Noelene but I must mention that I still think Colleen is the best player in the Taggart family, even with a broken arm.

Wednesday saw a good field hit off and the winner with a sensational score of 43 points was, Jim Walkinshaw, (had better check your handicap Jim). Next best with 39 was Darrell Carson who started his round with an eagle 3 on the first whilst the NTP winner was Robbie Porter.

The Thursday vet competition only attracted a small field but the scores were good at least by a couple of players. Tony Popeye Whiting had 42 points to be a clear winner from Bronnie Wilson 39. Popeye also won the NTP on the 15th hole. It was only on Wednesday that Bronnie told me she thought it was time she gave the game away as she had been playing that badly. Well in golf you are as good as your next shot.  Well done Bronnie.

The Geoff Wood sponsored Guzzler’s Mug was played on Saturday and the winner with a sensational score was Chris Chaffey with a 61 Nett. Chris had 79 off the stick and is fast heading for A Grade. Runner up with a nett 68 was Robbie Porter, (no longer can I call him the Nundle burglar as it is hard to burgle playing off a 4 handicap.

Robbie had a great day claiming three NTP’s, RAB 3rd,9th and the Bridges Finance 17th, whilst Barry Cameron NAB 6th, Les Forde the 11th, (He claims he did not use his putter from the tee), and Chalkie Chandler the Rob Brown Denture Clinic 15th.

Next Saturday we will be playing for the Les (I’m in a hurry) Forde trophy and the Central North District Keno 4BBB final will be held on Sunday with the winning team going on to play the state final at Bonville in early October.

Quote of the week”He who is good at making excuses is seldom good for anything else.”

Good Golfing.
