Wednesday golf was again beaten by the weather and only 5 plyers managed to see it through to the 18th hole. Me being one of them just proves you don’t have to be mad but it sure helps.
The Thursday vets though were successful and were in fact treated to beaut spring day. Derek Purdy won with 36 points from Bob Brown 34 points after a countback with John Holthouse. Margaret Macready was the best of the ladies with 31 and she also won the NTP.
Mark and Delphine Faulkner provided some very generous trophies for an individual stableford last Saturday with the first two place-getters getting a ham each and also the first two place-getters in a social golfers section also collecting hams. There were also a couple of turkeys won as well as a couple of boxes of M & M’s to the last placed players.
Anyhow the winner of the day was Kirin Walters with 40 points and Darrell Carson took second spot with 39 after a three way countback with Josh Clark and Robbie Porter whilst Tony Duff, Shane Barraclough, Charlie Murray and Bruce the Gnome all had 38.
NTP winners were NAB 6th and the Bridges Finance 17th both went to Kirin Walters, Vicki Barraclough the 9th, 11th and Rob Brown Denture Clinic 15th both to Charlie Murray I played with Charlie and we cannot work out how he missed a hole –in – one on the 15th.
In the social Golfers second Karen Doran beat Mick Acton on a countback when they both had 35 points. All in all it was a very successful day and once again a big thanks to Mark and Deli for their generosity.
I am not sure of the whole story but I understand that Peter Dixon when hitting off the 14th tee managed to clean up the 100 k speed sign on the highway. No doubt Peter would have been very impressed with that effort but in this game you are as good as your next shot, so don’t worry about the one that has gone.
