Another good field turned out for Wednesday Golf last week and Dan Riley returned an unbelievable score of 49 points to win by an amazing 11 points. Peter Dixon after a countback with Les (I’m in a hurry) Forde and of course he broke his age again, took second place. For the third week nobody managed to hit the 11th to claim the NTP.
Richard Cannon will use the orange ball next week after his 23 points.Congratulations Dan on an excellent effort.
Noelene Porter won again on Thursday this time with 34 points. She keeps complaining about losing shots off her handicap but any wonder when she keeps winning. Well done Noelene keep up the good work. Ian Duncan was next best after a countback with Jack Mitchell.
Several visiting ladies played at Uralla for a qualifying round of the Graham Betts Trophy and it was Jenny Lisle, Walcha, who had the best score of 37 points. Next best was Guyra’s Belinda Lenehan and Karen Oehlers.
The normal men’s competition attracted a couple of visitors as well but this time it was local Ross Anderson claiming the major prize, with a sensational score of nett 63. Kirin Walters was next with 67 and three players, Dactyl Carlon, The Big Bird himself Doug Taggart and Trevor (Fairweather) Wilson all returned 68 nett. Simon Wood secured the mars bar.
NTP winners were NAB 6th Daniel Fox (Armidale), Rob Brown Denture Clinic 15th Neil Bullen and the Bridges Finance 17th Charlie Murray. I know one thing I need to find out who Ross Anderson’s doctor is as Ross has been doing a fair bit of hacking it around lately. Last Wednesday he missed golf to go visit his doctor with his troublesome thumb and he comes out on Saturday and has probably his best round ever. Maybe the Doctor is a miracle worker or a magician, but in any case Ross good to see you back in form.
Quote of the week: “I like work; it fascinates me; I can sit and look at it for hours.”
