Darrell’s Weekly Wrap 20/12/2020

The Wednesday Wacker’s saw a strong field hit off last week and it was Chalkie Chandler with 40 points that won the day. The inform Chalkie beat Neil Cullen who claimed second spot with 38 and Duncan Arthur was next best with 37. Trevor Carson won the NTPO on the 6th.

The Thursday vets held their Xmas function and play an Ambrose event. I cannot remember all the prize winners but I do know that Marj Chappell, Margaret Macready and Tony Whiting were the major winners and that Chalkie and Geoff Leedham were next best.

Saturday was a big day for the club and members. The final of the match play was held, the final of the Guzzlers Mug as well as the event of the day.

Club Captain, Jon Izzard completed the Championship double when he beat Shaun Northam 4 and 3 in the match play final. That gave Jon the stroke and match play championships double. Congratulations Jon on this fine achievement. K-Mart was of course the runner up and Duncan McLean won the match play loser’s playoff, which was a playoff open to everybody that had been eliminated from the match play since round 1. Well done Duncan and a big thank you to Ross Anderson for his generous sponsorship.

Darrell Carson won the Annual Guzzler’s Mug playoff with nett 70. Troy Dawson won the event of the day with a fine 67 nett but only after a countback with Duncan McLean with Jason Brady and the Big Bird Sparra Taggart both having 69.

NTP winners were Vicki Barraclough on both the RAB 3ed and the NAB 6th, Troy Dawson on the 9th. Shane Barraclough on the 11th and Todd Jacobs at the Rob Brown Denture Clinic 15th and the Bridges Finance 17th went to K-Mart.

This will be my last report for a few weeks and I would like to take the opportunity to wish each and every one of you all the best for the festive season.  2020 has been a tough year so I hope you can spend some happy times with your loved ones over Xmas and that we all have a great New Year.

Quote of the week: “No self-made man ever did such a good job that some woman didn’t want to make a few alterations.”

Good Golfing
