URALLA GOLF CLUB REPORT
Last Wednesday saw my old mate, Les (I’m in a hurry) Forde celebrate his 92nd birthday and he fired an 84 off the stick. He must be getting sick of breaking his age. Congratulations Les and I hope I get to celebrate many more with you.
Jim Walkinshaw had 40 points to be a clear winner on the day. Visitor and former local Ross (Dickie) Schalk, now Sawtell took second spot after a countback with John Holman and Graeme Andrews all who had 38 points. Nobody managed to claim the NTP on the 3rd, and Murray Kennedy will play with the orange ball next week.
A not so big a field played in the Thursday veteran’s stableford and Armidale visitor Neville Pearson had a whopping 44 points to beat Mike Petrov 40 and Geoff Leedham 36 into the minor placings. Jack Mitchell 6th and John Holman 15th were the NTP winners.
This is now a week later as I did not get my report finished last week so it will appear as a double up or something.
Gary Mackaway won on Wednesday with 38 points, great to see Gary perform well and it was his first win for some time. Jason Brady and Duncan Arthur both had 37 to claim the minor placings and John (The Cocky Hater) Holman won the NTP on the 3rd. Robbie Porter will play with the orange ball next week.
Suzie Spencer won the Veteran’s competition on Thursday with 38 points. Congratulations Suzie good to see. Tony Johnson was second with 37 and the consistent Mike Petrov 3rd after a countback with Les (I’m in a hurry but am going to slow down) Forde. The NTP on the 15th was not won.
