The Wednesday Wackers golf attracted a good field last week and it was Bruce the Gnome who had a great return to form with a very good 41 points. Bruce who also claimed the NTP on the 3rd was a clear winner from the very consistent Robbie Porter, 38. Robbie needed a 5 way countback to claim second spot. Other 38 scores were returned by Shane Barraclough, Don Plummer, Tiger Clutterbuck and the evergreen Les (I’m in a hurry) Forde.
Tony Duff was handed the orange ball but on announcing he will be away next week it was quickly passed on to Dan Riley.
The Thursday vets held their annual Xmas day and they had two hams up for grabs, one for the best Lady’s score and one for the best Men’s score. In a day when good scores were the norm it was Vicki Holman who claimed her first ever win with 39 points. I had mentioned to Husband John (The Cocky Hater) that it would not be long before she started to outscore him and here she is bringing home the bacon, or at least the Ham. Congratulations Vicki may it be the first of many wins. The second best Lady was Aoife O’Nolan.
For the men it was Mike Petrov collecting the ham with as sensational 42 points. Tony (Popeye) Whiting was next with 40, whilst Albert Egli and Jack Mitchell won the NTP’s on the 9th and 15th respectively.
It is amazing how when there is a ham up for grabs how the good scores come out.
Saturday was the final of the Guzzlers Mug and Neil free won by a shot from Darrell Carson, and Freeza you cannot use the Mug at the bottom pub.
Saturday also saw the final of the Match Play sponsored by Ross Anderson and Duncan McLean played his best ever round to beat Geoff Wood 6 and 5. Duncan’s nett 63 also made him an easy winner of the day’s event. Next best was Aaron Blanch with 68 after a countback with Dactyl Carlon. NTP winners were Crewy Cameron on the RAB 3rd and Garry Dowdell on the Rob Brown Denture Clinic 15th.
The NAB 6th and Bridges Finance 17th were not won.
This will be my last report for the year I will be back towards the end of January and I would like to take the opportunity to wish each and every one of you the compliments of the season and I look forward to a bigger and better year at the Uralla Golf Club in 2019
