The usual Wednesday Wackers attracted a good field last week and it was the consistent Barry (Crewy the Torch) Cameron won with 39 points but only after a countback with Don Plummer. Tony Duff had 36 to be next best and for the first time (I think) Les (I’m in a hurry) Forde gets to use the orange ball nest Wednesday. I think however that Ross Anderson should have the orange ball because he failed to put his handicap on his card.
Whilst on Wednesday golf I should mention that I had Trevor (Fairweather) Wilson with me in the golf cart and on one occasion he was going crook about not being able to find the particular club he wanted to use when he suddenly realised he was looking in my bag by mistake. Not sure Fairweather should be the right name in future.
The vet’s did not play on Thursday but the Peter Richardson 4 ball multiplier attracted a good field on Saturday and Bruce (the Gnome) joined with Darrell Carson to be easy winners with a very good score of 84 points. Next best was Shane Barraclough and Sam Smith with 70. Rickie Porter and Tony Duff finished 3rd with 64.
NTP winners were RAB 3rd and Rob Brown Denture Clinic 15th Darrell Carson, NAB 6th Peter Richardson, 9th Charlie Murray and the Bridges Finance 17th Geoff Wood. Richo also supplied a couple of long drive trophies and Mary Dufty won the ladies and Richo himself the men’s.
The annual Junior event was held on Sunday, and several of the surrounding clubs were represented and in what was a difficult day some good scores were returned.
Some of the results were: Boys, Gross winner Toby Cooper (Uralla) 82
Gross Runner up Bailey Milford (Coonabrabran) 85
Nett Winner. Lang Toakley (Armidale) 64
Nett Runner Up. Matthew Reece (Inverell) 72.
Girls, Gross Winner. Matilda Chapman (Coonabrabran) 98
Gross Second, Courtenay Dade (Uralla) 107
Nett Winner Keely Milford (Coonabrabran) 62
Nett Second, Mia Clark (Uralla)
Some of the prize winners in the 9 and 5 holes events were, Cooper Smith and Mikaela Dodd Uralla along with C Milford also from Coonabrabran. Montana and Cheyanne Dodd were both also prize winners. Despite the very cold and windy day everybody enjoyed the day and is looking forward to next year already.
