Chalkie Chandler returned to the winner’s circle last Wednesday with 39 points to edge out Darrell Carson, 38 and Tony Duff, 37. Whilst on Tony you will remember the story of the shoes last week well it seems that I was misled and he actually had left his shoes at home and he rang the club to say he had them and was on his way back. I figure anyway there is no point in letting the truth get in the way of a good story.
Tony did win the NTP on the 6th and the normally consistent Crewy (The Torch) Cameron will play with the orange ball next week.
The Thursday vets event saw a smaller field, I imagine due to the cooler weather and it was Tony (Popeye) Whiting that won the day from Jack Mitchell and Chickie Chappell. Wife Marj Chappell was the best of the ladies and nobody managed to claim the NTP.
Barry Cameron was the sponsor for an individual stableford on Saturday, and considering the number of players who went to Armidale and a few more who were out of town it was a pretty good field.
Barry actually had the best score of the day, 40 points but the major prize went to Lil Faulkner with 39. Congratulations Lil that is a good effort for an old girl.
Next best were Mike Petrov, Boonah visitor, Vern Christensen and Les (I’m in a hurry) Forde.
NTP winners were, RAB 3rd and Rob Brown Denture Clinic 15th both went to The Big Bird Sparra Taggart, NAB 6th to Noelene Porter, 9th Dactyl Carlon, 11th Bruce (The Gnome) McMullen, and the 17th to Vicki Barraclough.
Next Saturday we will once again play for the Geoff Wood sponsored Guzzlers Mug and the week after sees the biggest weekend on the Uralla Golfing calendar with the Veterans open on Friday, Uralla and Central North open Mixed on Saturday and The Uralla Open 4BBB on Sunday.
All owners of carts in the cart shed should be aware that we have had new keys cut. These Keys cannot be copied and each owner will be required to pay a refundable deposit of $20 per key to get access to the shed once the new lock has been installed. This is required as things have been going missing and there is no record of the number of keys currently in existence. See Amy to get your new key and pay the $20 refundable deposit.
