Darrell’s Weekly Wrap 07/04/2019

Well at the risk of repeating myself almost every week I have to report that once again the old Marvel himself Les (I’m in a hurry) Forde smashed his age again last Wednesday. This time he had an 82 off the stick to better his age by nearly 10 shots. Anyhow the 82 resulted in 42 stableford points which was good enough to push Murray Kennedy 41 into second spot after he won the countback from Ross Anderson. Neil Free will play with the orange ball next week.

John Holthouse won the veterans competition on Thursday with a score of 37 points but only after a countback with Aoife O’Nolan with Neil dark (Walcha) next with 36. The big bird Sparra Taggart won the NTP on the 15th.

Saturday saw the Geoff Wood sponsored Guzzlers Mug attracted only a small field but there was some very good scores returned. Sally Burraston Nett 61 was a clear winner from Tony Duff 65 and Barry Cameron 66.

NTP winners were; RAB 3rd Crewy Cameron, NAB 6th Darrell Carson, 9th Mike Petrov, 11th and the Bridges Finance 17th to Tony Park and the Rob Brown Denture Clinic 15th to Tony Duff.

A couple of items of interest last week, a noticeable absence on Saturday was John (the Cocky hater) Holman. John had a massive score of 19 points on Thursday, was soundly beaten by his wife Vicki and did not front up on Saturday. Was supposed to be too busy.

From this day forward Mike Petrov should be known as RUSSELL (as in Crow) as he finds golf balls in the most unusual places on the course. In fact last Saturday he found one just behind the 3rd tee and we are not sure it wasn’t still moving when he picked it up. Russell you are supposed to wait until they stop after being hit by someone else before you find them. Poor Pete Doyle didn’t think his ball would be too hard to find hitting off the 15th tee but found it in Russell’s hand.

Finally, the AGM will be held on Sunday 28th April at 10 am and we hope we will get a strong attendance. A nomination sheet for all positions is on the notice board so please consider joining the board of directors. I know at least one current director is not seeking re-election so some new members will be required.

The annual financial statements are available on the club’s website.

Quote of the week: “Everyone complains of his memory, no one of his judgement.”

Good Golfing.
